v1 The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:
v2 for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;
v3 for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair;
v4 for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young-
v5 let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance-
v6 for understanding proverbs and parables, the saying and riddles of the wise.
v7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
This breaks down what will be talked about and it's use for various people.
All can find worth from it no matter their circumstance. And that fearing God is the start of this knowledge. Until Adam and Eve ate the fruit-I don't know if they really "feared" God because they were not separated from Him. I don't think of that separation either, maybe because that separation has always been there for me. I'm His child, but it's a struggle for me to keep up my end of the relationship. To allow Him to pilot and me co-pilot is difficult, being a "can do" kind of gal.
But-"fools despise wisdom and discipline" v7
It's not the wisdom that's hard for me-it's the discipline. I need that to keep my focus where it belongs, on God, Jesus, & the Holy Spirit and where and how I can best be used to glorify Him.
